Location Change - Sarajevo

Since late March 2010 I've been based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. My local phone is +38766274641. I will be still spending lots of time in Russia working on Chechnya project and on assignments. But now I'm available as well for assignments across Balkans. Stories from the area to follow.

Launching Russia's first photo collective

In late 2009 with four colleagues launched Verso Images - first Russian collective of five emerging documentary photographers. We are concentrated on stories of different kind on Russia and CIS and share the same goal – to show the changing reality in our region. We are committed to both individual and collective work, and we are hoping to push the boundaries of contemporary Russian photo scene.

We are Aftermath Project finalists

With two colleagues and friends of mine, Maria Morina and Oksana Yushko we are finalists of The Aftermath Project. From the press-release: "For the first time, a trio of photographers applied together for one grant. Olga Kravets, Maria Morina and Oksana Yushko joined forces to propose “Grozny: 9 cities.” Their photographic work was strong, but the judges were particularly impressed with the creativity of their proposal, inspired by a Thornton Wilder book, “Theophilus North,” which centers on the idea of nine cities being hidden in one. The photographers proposed to explore specific aspects of Grozny’s aftermath through considering them as “cities” hidden with Grozny. In addition, the judges applauded the collaborative nature of the proposal, in a field which is often marked by fierce competition between photographers". We will soon start showing the ongoing work.

Multimedia issue

I’d love to present a couple of multimedia projects that I’ve completed recently. At some point, there will be definitely a multimedia section of this website, but now you can reach them by clicking on the links. THE FIRST ONE is about a Moscow charity helping homeless. The story was originally shot for Helsingin Sanomat. THE SECOND ONE was shot with having multimedia format in mind and this is a part of my breakaway republics projects, within which I went to Azerbaijan and Nagorny Karabakh in June 2009.

Ready for hot zones

With the bursary from the Rory Peck Trust I've just completed the Hostile Environment and First Aid Training Course in the United Kingdom.

Back to Moscow

I left Abkhazia for a while to work in some other regions of the world. I will shortly announce my next location. In the meantime I have come back to Moscow.

Hi there!

My website is up! Will upload all the projects soon, sorry for any inconvenience that may appear while I'm getting used to the site
